Roman Forum 1

Roman Forum - Temple of Antonio and Faustina - this temple was built in 141 AD to honor Emperor Antoninus Pius and his wife Faustina.

Roman Forum 2

Basilica Maxentius - the last and largest basilica built in Rome in the year 312 AD. A basilica was a Roman justice hall where citizens came to have disputes resolved by the government. The shape of the basilica was later used by the church to create its great cathedrals.

Roman Forum 3

Basilica Emilia - the second basilica built in the forum in the year 179 BC.

Roman Forum 4

Basilica Emilia - remains of the inside of the basilica.

Roman Forum 5

Curia - entrance to the recreated senate house building. It was the most important political building in Rome.

Roman Forum 6

Rostrum and Temple of Saturn - the Rostrum stood in front of the brick wall and it was a kind of "Speaker's Corner". The eight columns behind it are all that's left of the Temple of Saturn.

Roman Forum 7

Phoca's Column - this was the last monument erected in the forum in the year 608 AD. It commemorated the Emperor Phocas who gave the Pantheon to Pope Boniface IV.

Basilica Julia - the remains of the basilica built by Julius Caesar in the year 55 BC.

Roman Forum 9

Roman Forum - from left to right are the Temple of Saturn columns, Phocas column, Temple of Vespasian columns, and the Arch of Septimus Severius.
