Arco de Constantino (Arch of Constantine) - built in the year 315 AD to commemorate general Constantine's defeat of Emperor Maxentius.
Arco de Constantino - Constantine claimed to have seen a vision of a cross in the sky the night before the battle.
Then after his victory he became emperor and legalized Christianity.
Arco de Constantino - soon after Constantine's victory, Rome started to decline after he moved his capitol to a new city in the east, Constantinople (current Istanbul).
Arco de Constantino - the arch is right next to the Colosseum and its statues and decorations where recycled from other older monuments.
