View of the upper royal chapel in the Sainte Chapelle. It was built in 1248 by King Louis IX (Saint Louis) to house Christ's Crown of Thorns and fragments of the Holy Cross. The Rose Window dates from 1485 and tells the story of the Apocalypse in 86 beautiful stained glass panels.

Musee du Louvre - Hercules battles Achelous by Francois Joseph (baron Bosio), 1824. Achelous, the river god, was the rival of Hercules for the love of the fair maiden Dejanira. During the battle, Achelous transforms into a snake but is nonetheless defeated by Hercules.

Musee du Louvre - capital of a column of the Audience Chamber in the palace of Darius I (510 BC).
