PARIS DAY 2 CONCORDE 1

View of the 3,300 year old obelisk from the Temple of Luxor in the center of the Place de la Concorde. The plaza used to be called Place Louis XV after the statue of the king that stood there. During the French Revolution the king's statue naturally came down, and the revolutionaries renamed the plaza to Place de la Concorde in order to underscore the concurrance or harmony that they believed was brought about by the revolution.

PARIS DAY 2 FOUNTAINBLEAU 1

Another view of the entrance to the Chateau de Fountainebleau. In the center leading to the entrance to the building is the famous horseshoe staircase that was built in the 17th century. The chateau was Napoleon's favorite residence and today houses a museum dedicated to the emperor.
